Emer McCormack Just-Eat.ie Online Marketing Manager talks about marketing on the interweb.

Hello I am Emer McCormack and I joined Just-Eat.ie in January 2010 and I love Just-Eat.ie purely because I am a online geek but mainly because it is a forward thinking, progressive company. Just-Eat is only two years in Ireland and its already Ireland’s No.1 Food Ordering Website! I think that is very impressive.

My role as Online Marketing Manager can range from designing websites, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing, PPC, Managing Social Media Channels and Reputation Management, Affiliate Marketing etc and that is just online. I also apply my expertise in other areas in offline marketing such as radio advertising, print media and PR etc.

Online marketing means you have to have your finger on the pulse of all online activity at all times especially if your ‘brand’ is being talked about. This includes monitoring Google alerts, responding to tweets and Facebook messages.  It  doesn’t matter what day of the week communication comes in or at what time of day or night, you have to manage it effectively. That’s why everywhere I go I have my Blackberry and iPhone with me and my laptop is never far away.

The reason why I decided to write this entry was mainly because I often get asked “what is it that a Online Marketing Manager does?”  I hope I have answered it now.  The truth is I don’t work alone, we work as a team in Just-Eat.ie and this is fundamental to its overall success to date.

So, that’s me. I love to meet new people so please don’t be shy and say hello.

Emer

The Fat Cat’s of Just-Eat “Eat Out” at The Farm Restaurant. 0

Posted on May 07, 2010 by EmerMcC

The management of Just-Eat.ie enjoyed a lovely meal at  The Farm Restaurant on Dawson Street in the heart of Dublin City last week. As much as we would love to visit each restaurant/takeaway on Just-Eat.ie it simply is not possible.

Our motive for eating out was because we had visitors over from the UK and Denmark and we had to feed them, when I say visitors I mean the Group CEO and other Just-Eat ‘Fat Cats’. Representing Ireland, Mr. James Galvin MD, Mr. David Evans National Sales Manager and Ms. Emer McCormack Online Marketing Manager (me).

I have to say we were all very excited about visiting The Farm as none of us were ever there before. The interior of the restaurant was very relaxing, with comfortable seating and mood enhancing lights (ok I don’t know if they were actually mood enhancing but they did change colour intermittingly).

We all enjoyed our starters that ranged from Homemade Houmous, Spicy Chicken Wings, Goats Cheese Tartlet and so on, there wasn’t a crumb left on the plates. The main course was next to arrive and may I just add at this point that the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our main courses consisted of Cottage Pie Made With Premium Quality Organic Irish Beef accompanied by fresh mixed vegetables, Crispy Fillet Of Cod With Warm Baby Potatoes with boiled fresh peas, Braised Lamb Shank in a rich gravy & tomato sauce with wild mushrooms and baton carrots & mashed potato to name a few. Hungry yet?

The desserts looked absolutely fabulous and tasted so good according to the people that had them, so much so that our Group CEO went for a second helping of a different dessert!

In summery The Farm’s food is definitely not one to be missed and we would highly recommend you give it a try. Furthermore, you can enjoy the experience of The Farm at home as they now offer home delivery with Just-Eat.ie.

Funky Survey Questions Answered by Just-Eat.ie Fans. 1

Posted on May 04, 2010 by EmerMcC

By having access to a loyal ‘fan’ base on Facebook we have a fantastic opportunity to ask a few question from time to time to our friends. Today I asked a few quirky questions to obtain an understanding of what our fans really think of us and also to find out who are ‘fans’ are. Enjoy the read.

What is your name?

Joe Murphy

Are you in good form?

Yeah, actually. =)

How old are you ?

35.

What do you do? As in occupation -

Administrator and online marketing guy for a nonprofit, plus I consult on online marketing for some small press publishers.

What part of this wonderful Island do you live in?

Dublin.

What are you passionate about?

Communication. Questions. Creativity. Food and drink. Games.

Have you used Just-Eat.ie before?

Yes, but only a handful of times.

If so, what do you think of it?

Good. The site is bright and fairly clean. The user experience is good. The range of places I can order from is good. And the site has improved since the first time I used it.

How often would you order?

Maybe once a month?

What is your favourite food?

Japanese right now, but it varies a lot. Craft beer.

Daddy or Chips?

Chips, with brown sauce, thank you.

Why did you join our Fan Page?

Whenever we order food online, we google for vouchers. We noticed the Facebook page occasionally had some, and wanted to keep up to date.

Did you hear of Just-Eat.ie prior to joining our Facebook Fan page?

Yes. But the page has encouraged me to stick around.

Do you like the way we communicate on Facebook?

*Definitely*. Warm, funny, engaging, chatty. You’re doing it right. I’ve used the competitions and the way they encourage the promotion of your brand (hey everyone, spam your pals!) as classic examples of how to use Facebook well.

Do you think we’re a cool brand?

I think so, yes. Takeaway food isn’t *very* cool, but you do it well.

Plus, your site’s good – I like the little bios. That sort of human face to an organisation gets me every time. It’s worth doing, but I know many organisations find that transparency threatening (like mine).

Thanks for taking the time out to answer these few questions, we think you’re cool .

Likewise!
