Just-Eat

As Seen On Danish TV!

Just-Eat.dk is the flagship country of Just-Eat. It is where the concept was born and is the benchmark that many of the other Just-Eat countries aspire to reach. My ambition for Just-Eat.ie is to be one day on an equal footing to the Danish business, as actually Denmark is not too dissimilar to Ireland. Their population is around 5m (around 1m+ more than us) and they have high a concentration of population around their capital city, and most importantly both nations love takeaway food.
This week our colleagues in Denmark have started on their first ever national TV campaign in Denmark and I have to say, I really like the adverts.
They use a humour angle to convey the message of choice to their customers, which is a very important selling point of the Just-Eat concept. I personally think clever humour is a great tool when it comes to advertising. Some of my favourite TV adverts of all-time are often the funniest ones, and I have to say that the clips below (despite obviously being in Danish) tick all the boxes for me.

Ad 1: My first words

Plot: A family is gathered around a table eating cake and talking to each other. Suddenly the baby starts muttering something. The dad think’s that the baby is saying “daddy”, so he is enticing the baby to repeat it while everyone is listening carefully. The baby then bursts out: “Pizza no. 7 with chili, garlic and extra cheese”. Everyone at the tables looks disturbed and confused and we zoom in on the father.
Payoff: “Do you order a bit too much at the same place? Try Just-Eat, here you can find anything from grill to gourmet.”

Ad 2: Feeling at home

Plot: We see a young woman and a young man in a cozy apartment with some nice music. Suddenly the woman gets angry at the guy and asks him to leave. The guy then goes to take a glass of milk, and she’s even more annoyed. She finally manages to throw the poor guy out of the apartment. As soon as the door is closed, the guy knocks at the door saying “Hey… you forgot to pay for your pizza – hello?”
Payoff: “Do you order a bit too much at the same place? Try Just-Eat, here you can find anything from grill to gourmet.”

I wish Just-Eat.dk all the best success with these TV adverts, and who knows, maybe Just-Eat.ie could potentially grace the TV ad breaks on Irish television one day. Anything is possible!
