Microwave Food? Oven Pizza? Just feed me please! 0

Posted on June 24, 2011 by admin

How I fell in Love with Just-Eat.ie

It’s no secret – many people are already putting more hours into the working
day than ever before. As we start to increase productivity, we’re working
more. Business owners, managers and employees alike have to spend more time
marketing and promoting their businesses, and then creating and adding more
value than ever before. It’s a case of more time in front of the PC and less
time in front of the oven.

Basically, we’re just working more to be able to do the same work.

When you have to sink an extra half day into preparing a proposal or
drafting a sales pitch, do you really want to come home to microwave food?
You only have to eat one oven pizza to know that they are not in danger of
closing any pizzerias. Does working longer mean you have to sacrifice on
taste? When sacrifices are needed – why should the taste buds get the bullet

I don’t own a microwave personally. I used to. I gave it away. I just don’t
use it. I cook or I bake. I don’t reheat pizza. I enjoy cooking. In fact I
love it. But I can’t do it full time and I either want to cook or I want
someone to cook for me. That’s just me.

I work long hours and every weekend. I love to have people over and when I’m
caught for time, I don’t want to spend it in the kitchen. So if I have
people over mid-week or I just don’t have time to go shopping and then get
home and then cook because it’s 9:00pm already (I really have to get out of
here actually, so I might just keep this short) – I might just order from my
favourite (which is Meal Maza in Castletroy – so please support them J) and
then either collect it on the way home (which saves time waiting – when I
could be on twitter) or have it delivered. And enjoy the company of others.

Just-Eat, the world’s largest takeaway ordering service, has announced the closure of a financing round of $48m co-led by two leading venture capitalists, Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures with substantial support from existing investor Index Ventures.

The investment will be used to accelerate Just-Eat’s international roll-out and further develop the consumer web offering and range of services provided to partner restaurants. Just-Eat is currently represented in ten countries, across three continents and works with over 15,000 restaurants. In aggregate these partners access over 5 million hungry visitors each month through the Just-Eat network. The company will generate over $500m of revenue for local businesses in 2011.

“This level of investment shows a significant belief in the Just-Eat brand, approach and long-term vision of the business.”, said James Galvin, Managing Director of Just-Eat Ireland. “Just-Eat is already the dominant market leader in Ireland for online food ordering, and our ambition is to make sure we continue that trend in every single new country we launch. Thanks to its technology edge and restaurant-friendly approach, Just-Eat is well positioned to bring its services to many more delivery restaurants in the future.”

Tom Dyal, Partner at Redpoint Ventures, added: “We are very excited to team up with Just-Eat, the global leader in the emerging online takeaway ordering space, continuing Redpoint’s focus on strong consumer Internet brands. Nicole EllisHi. My name is Nicole and I’m the Office Administrator for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the company in December 2008 and have never looked back! My responsbilities include managing restaurant and customer queries, handling all of the online and offline administration, checking the online menus, preparing the Just-Eat boxes before they go into shops, assisting Customer Care and lots, lots more.

One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Just-Eat is because when I joined we were still a little internet company with big ideas, and in a short space of time we have become the biggest online takeaway service in Ireland and growing fast! Its really exciting to be part of business that is constantly evolving and getting bigger.

I think within the next few years, people will be wondering why they ever used the phone to order their takeaways. I believe ordering via Just-Eat will just become the norm.

That’s all I can think to say right now, thanks for reading!

JUST-EAT.IE BITE BACK AT FRENCH WITH NEW WEBSITE FOR WORLD CUP! 0

Posted on June 09, 2010 by EmerMcC

Just-Eat.ie, the online takeaway ordering service,  have recently launched a new website entitled ‘AnyoneButFrance.ie’. The tongue-in-cheek website is dedicated to giving to Irish football supporters sanctuary during the World Cup, by offering tips and advice for avoiding all things French during the tournament.

Ireland failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup when they controversially lost 2-1 on aggregate to France in a World Cup qualifier play-off. Thierry Henry’s handball, which led to William Gallas’s winning goal, sent shockwaves throughout the football world. Despite widespread condemnation for the manner in which the French qualified, the subsequent calls for a re-match were dismissed by the governing body FIFA.

“Although the website is very much based on fun, there is a serious message underpinning the campaign” James Galvin, Managing Director of Just-Eat.ie claims. “Ireland being at The World Cup would have given the economy a much needed boost. We are a football fanatic nation, and our presence would have seen a massive increase in the sales of jerseys, beer, merchandise, takeaway food and much more. Whilst joining together to support ‘Anyone But France’, we believe we are doing our part to try and keep people’s interest high. It gives us a common, and we believe, justified aim”.

Since launching the micro-site in May, they have recruited almost 3,000 fans on Facebook and have given away over €2k worth of prizes to heart-broken Irish football fans. They have even signed up a number of restaurants nationwide to sell special edition ‘Hand-Burgers’.

“We’ve already received a number of complaints from French football fans about the tone of the website, but everything said is firmly in jest” says Galvin. “After everything that has happened to us, they can’t deny us the right to have some fun”.

The Fat Cat’s of Just-Eat “Eat Out” at The Farm Restaurant. 0

Posted on May 07, 2010 by EmerMcC

The management of Just-Eat.ie enjoyed a lovely meal at  The Farm Restaurant on Dawson Street in the heart of Dublin City last week. As much as we would love to visit each restaurant/takeaway on Just-Eat.ie it simply is not possible.

Our motive for eating out was because we had visitors over from the UK and Denmark and we had to feed them, when I say visitors I mean the Group CEO and other Just-Eat ‘Fat Cats’. Representing Ireland, Mr. James Galvin MD, Mr. David Evans National Sales Manager and Ms. Emer McCormack Online Marketing Manager (me).

I have to say we were all very excited about visiting The Farm as none of us were ever there before. The interior of the restaurant was very relaxing, with comfortable seating and mood enhancing lights (ok I don’t know if they were actually mood enhancing but they did change colour intermittingly).

We all enjoyed our starters that ranged from Homemade Houmous, Spicy Chicken Wings, Goats Cheese Tartlet and so on, there wasn’t a crumb left on the plates. The main course was next to arrive and may I just add at this point that the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our main courses consisted of Cottage Pie Made With Premium Quality Organic Irish Beef accompanied by fresh mixed vegetables, Crispy Fillet Of Cod With Warm Baby Potatoes with boiled fresh peas, Braised Lamb Shank in a rich gravy & tomato sauce with wild mushrooms and baton carrots & mashed potato to name a few. Hungry yet?

The desserts looked absolutely fabulous and tasted so good according to the people that had them, so much so that our Group CEO went for a second helping of a different dessert!

In summery The Farm’s food is definitely not one to be missed and we would highly recommend you give it a try. Furthermore, you can enjoy the experience of The Farm at home as they now offer home delivery with Just-Eat.ie.
