My name is Ciaran Fleming and I am a Merchandiser for Just-Eat. What I really like most about my job is helping restaurants make the most of the internet. Restaurants have been through a very tough last two years, and helping them generate revenue from the internet is very rewarding. As a merchandiser for Just-Eat, it means that essentially it’s my job to help restaurants with branding their shops effectively, problem-solving any technology issues and getting them the best deals I can on merchandise. This generally tends to be things like menus, pizza boxes, posters & paper bags. I frequently sit down with the restaurant owners we work with and thrash out new ideas to get them new business in the door. Also of course if a restaurant ever needs help with any online issues I am normally the first one on the scene. It’s a great feeling to see a business go from being a pussy cat to beoming a mountain lion.
With regards to the future, to put it simply, the traditional methods of ordering a takeaway are on the decline and will stay on the decline for the foreseeable future. All businesses are online now, from multi-national airlines to local shops. This is the way forward and online takeaway ordering on Just-Eat is here to stay. Game, set and match.
Now that I have finished giving you some background on me, I will log on to Just-Eat and ponder whether I will have curry or a kebab for my dinner tonight.

I joined Just-Eat in June 2009. I had just completed a B.A in Business and Management at Carlow IT. Just-Eat was still a relatively young company when I joined and I hadn’t heard much about it as there were very little takeaways in my area online. I saw a great opportunity to work at a company that was still building itself up, and knew I could be part of bringing Just-Eat to the south. From the word go I knew id love it as all the staff at Just-Eat are young and up for a bit of craic.
I am the Sales Manager for the South of Ireland, so I cover Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Limerick. Alot of driving around the country. Basically my job consists of introducing the Just-Eat concept to restaurant owners. When I started restaurants said “Why would someone order online?”. Now they are all online because they realise the gains they can get for their restaurants through the wonderful world of the internet. I build relationships with restaurants across the country and deal with any issues they might have, and continuously show them ways to constantly improve their business.
This job has introduced me to so many things, I work with alot of different nationalities and work in areas I have never been before. The one thing I love about my job is that when I see a restaurant doing really well online and see that we have helped them improve their business for the better. I enjoy the fact that I have been a big part in building Just-Eat’s restaurant base in the South. It is a great company to work for. “Work Hard, Play Harder” is my motto.
The way Just-Eat had sprung up in the last year, I think the future of the takeaway ordering business will be dominated by customers ordering online via Just-Eat!

My name is David Evans and I’m the National Sales Manager for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the business in February 2009, just as it was coming out of its infancy. The attraction to work with a young and ambitious company that has a local feel and huge international support, was a massive draw for me. Also working with like-minded, driven and very ambitious people makes it a very exciting place to be.

My duties include managing our Sales & Merchandising team nationally. I’m out there selling to restaurants whilst also coaching my team on an on-going basis. The people in Just-Eat.ie is why I really enjoy working here. They are all young, hungry and most of all, committed to what we are doing here in Ireland, plus they all know how to have a good time. As a senior manager within the Irish business I also get the chance to attend Just-Eat world meetings in places like Amsterdam, London and Barcelona, where all the Just-Eat countries meet to share best practices and new ideas.

As for the future of takeaway ordering it’s really simple – Just-Eat.ie! I have witnessed an amazing turnaround in how people have taken to online ordering over the past 18 months and things will only get better. Why would you spend time looking for a menu, when you can click on to Ireland’s No 1 website with the best choice, best technology and best service? I know what I would choose

Like

I joined Just-Eat.ie in June 2008 after graduating with a BA in Interior Architecture. Not many people heard about us at the time, but now everyone is ordering on Just-Eat. Order food online? Yes, simple as that! And I believe it is better than all other ways – including the phone. This is why in June 2008 after having an interview, I cancelled all other interview appointments booked with interior architectural design firms and joined Just-Eat.ie to help start spread this great concept to everyone. It was not only the big change in ordering takeaways, but also the big change in my life.

My job is to introduce the Just-Eat system to restaurants and takeaways across the midlands, and to explain how to co-operate with us in a partnership that will increase their online orders. This new technology was just taking off in Ireland two years ago, and is a bit different to traditional methods for food ordering. Just-Eat makes things much easier and quicker, hence unavoidably in the beginning many misunderstandings occurred between restaurants and users. It was a learning curve for both the restaurants and consumers. With the great team we have at Just-Eat, we have been able to help everyone and it has been amazing how quick things have progressed.

Anything that could help our restaurant’s increase orders, Just-Eat will definitely do. I love being involved with a company that is constantly getting smarter. By working with the Just-Eat team, takeaway restaurants will see an increase in online business for sure. One thing I’d like to tell our partners is “you made the right decision!”. So did I.

The Apple iPad may not have yet officially launched in the Ireland, but that isn’t stopping the device from performing better for retailers than the iPhone.
Despite having not being released in Ireland yet, an initial like-for-like comparison of conversion rates of visitors to buyers has revealed that the iPad is going to be a much more effective online buying platform than the iPhone.

Ireland’s leading takeaway website, www.Just-Eat.ie, analysed the operating systems people use to order takeaway food through, and discovered that despite the fact that the Apple iPad has not yet been released in the Ireland; hundreds of owners are already using the device to order takeaway food online and its sales conversion rate is much higher than iPhone users.

The company’s statistics show that, on average, iPad sales conversions are running at 1 in 3, 34.9%, of browsers ordering, yet iPhone sales conversions are running at 7.64%. The iPod Touch browser to buyer conversion rate stands at 10.62%.

The Just-Eat network service more than 45,000 meal orders in any given 24 hour period, and has decided to release the information regarding the operating systems people use to access the Just-Eat website from, in order to show the potential of the iPad with regards to online retail.

The iPhone accounts for ten times more traffic to the site than the Android operating system, Symbian Operating System or RIM’s BlackBerry browser, whilst twice as many people use the PlayStation 3 browser to access the website when compared to the Nintendo Wii.

Here are the top methods users of Just-Eat.ie use to access the website, not including access through Windows or a Mac.

iPhone – 58.7%

Linux – 11.54%

iPod Touch – 7.64%

SymbianOS – 5.85%

Android – 5.85%

BlackBerry – 5.04%

Playstation 3 – 2.11%

Nintendo Wii - 0.98%

Sony – 0.81%

10. Samsung – 0.65%

11. iPad – 0.49%

12. Nokia – 0.16%

13. LG – 0.16%

James Galvin, Managing Director of Just-Eat.ie had the following to say,

“As soon as the iPad was announced, we were quietly confident that it would be an online retail game changer, as its simplicity and hassle-free design lend nicely to browsing whilst sat in front of the TV, often the time consumers are most likely to buy or order online.

“The device hasn’t even launched in Ireland yet and we’ve already seen more site traffic via the iPad than via established web-ready portable devices such as the Sony PSP.”

He continued,

“Thousands of people access Just-Eat.ie website every month using the iPhone web browser, and we fully expect the iPad to exceed this after launching at the end of this month. We are extremely excited about the potential of the iPad, especially after this great start, and truly believe it will be a huge sales driver for many retail outlets online, including ours.”

My name is Nicole and I’m the Office Administrator for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the company in December 2008 and have never looked back! My responsbilities include managing restaurant and customer queries, handling all of the online and offline administration, checking the online menus, preparing the Just-Eat boxes before they go into shops, assisting Customer Care and lots, lots more.

One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Just-Eat is because when I joined we were still a little internet company with big ideas, and in a short space of time we have become the biggest online takeaway service in Ireland and growing fast! Its really exciting to be part of business that is constantly evolving and getting bigger.

I think within the next few years, people will be wondering why they ever used the phone to order their takeaways. I believe ordering via Just-Eat will just become the norm.

That’s all I can think to say right now, thanks for reading!

Just-Eat.ie, the online takeaway ordering service, have recently launched a new website entitled ‘AnyoneButFrance.ie’. The tongue-in-cheek website is dedicated to giving to Irish football supporters sanctuary during the World Cup, by offering tips and advice for avoiding all things French during the tournament.

Ireland failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup when they controversially lost 2-1 on aggregate to France in a World Cup qualifier play-off. Thierry Henry’s handball, which led to William Gallas’s winning goal, sent shockwaves throughout the football world. Despite widespread condemnation for the manner in which the French qualified, the subsequent calls for a re-match were dismissed by the governing body FIFA.

“Although the website is very much based on fun, there is a serious message underpinning the campaign” James Galvin, Managing Director of Just-Eat.ie claims. “Ireland being at The World Cup would have given the economy a much needed boost. We are a football fanatic nation, and our presence would have seen a massive increase in the sales of jerseys, beer, merchandise, takeaway food and much more. Whilst joining together to support ‘Anyone But France’, we believe we are doing our part to try and keep people’s interest high. It gives us a common, and we believe, justified aim”.

Since launching the micro-site in May, they have recruited almost 3,000 fans on Facebook and have given away over €2k worth of prizes to heart-broken Irish football fans. They have even signed up a number of restaurants nationwide to sell special edition ‘Hand-Burgers’.

“We’ve already received a number of complaints from French football fans about the tone of the website, but everything said is firmly in jest” says Galvin. “After everything that has happened to us, they can’t deny us the right to have some fun”.
