Just-Eat.ie | Ciaran FlemingHi. My name is Ciaran Fleming and I am a Merchandiser for Just-Eat. What I really like most about my job is helping restaurants make the most of the internet. Restaurants have been through a very tough last two years, and helping them generate revenue from the internet is very rewarding. As a merchandiser for Just-Eat, it means that essentially it’s my job to help restaurants with branding their shops effectively, problem-solving any technology issues and getting them the best deals I can on merchandise. This generally tends to be things like menus, pizza boxes, posters & paper bags. I frequently sit down with the restaurant owners we work with and thrash out new ideas to get them new business in the door. Also of course if a restaurant ever needs help with any online issues I am normally the first one on the scene. It’s a great feeling to see a business go from being a pussy cat to beoming a mountain lion.
With regards to the future, to put it simply, the traditional methods of ordering a takeaway are on the decline and will stay on the decline for the foreseeable future. All businesses are online now, from multi-national airlines to local shops. This is the way forward and online takeaway ordering on Just-Eat is here to stay. Game, set and match.
Now that I have finished giving you some background on me, I will log on to Just-Eat and ponder whether I will have curry or a kebab for my dinner tonight.

Just-Eat.ie | Laura KennedyHi guys, im Laura, I hale from the sunny South East in the lovely Carlow.
I joined Just-Eat in June 2009. I had just completed a B.A in Business and Management at Carlow IT. Just-Eat was still a relatively young company when I joined and I hadn’t heard much about it as there were very little takeaways in my area online. I saw a great opportunity to work at a company that was still building itself up, and knew I could be part of bringing Just-Eat to the south. From the word go I knew id love it as all the staff at Just-Eat are young and up for a bit of craic.
I am the Sales Manager for the South of Ireland, so I cover Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Limerick. Alot of driving around the country. Basically my job consists of introducing the Just-Eat concept to restaurant owners. When I started restaurants said “Why would someone order online?”. Now they are all online because they realise the gains they can get for their restaurants through the wonderful world of the internet. I build relationships with restaurants across the country and deal with any issues they might have, and continuously show them ways to constantly improve their business.
This job has introduced me to so many things, I work with alot of different nationalities and work in areas I have never been before. The one thing I love about my job is that when I see a restaurant doing really well online and see that we have helped them improve their business for the better. I enjoy the fact that I have been a big part in building Just-Eat’s restaurant base in the South. It is a great company to work for. “Work Hard, Play Harder” is my motto.
The way Just-Eat had sprung up in the last year, I think the future of the takeaway ordering business will be dominated by customers ordering online via Just-Eat!

Just-Eat.ie | David EvansHello. My name is David Evans and I’m the National Sales Manager for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the business in February 2009, just as it was coming out of its infancy. The attraction to work with a young and ambitious company that has a local feel and huge international support, was a massive draw for me. Also working with like-minded, driven and very ambitious people makes it a very exciting place to be.

My duties include managing our Sales & Merchandising team nationally. I’m out there selling to restaurants whilst also coaching my team on an on-going basis. The people in Just-Eat.ie is why I really enjoy working here. They are all young, hungry and most of all, committed to what we are doing here in Ireland, plus they all know how to have a good time. As a senior manager within the Irish business I also get the chance to attend Just-Eat world meetings in places like Amsterdam, London and Barcelona, where all the Just-Eat countries meet to share best practices and new ideas.

As for the future of takeaway ordering it’s really simple – Just-Eat.ie! I have witnessed an amazing turnaround in how people have taken to online ordering over the past 18 months and things will only get better. Why would you spend time looking for a menu, when you can click on to Ireland’s No 1 website with the best choice, best technology and best service? I know what I would choose :-)

Just-Eat.ie | Staff | Pat YanHi, call me Pat Yan as I like my Irish name, which was picked in a book store at Dublin airport! I joined Just-Eat.ie in June 2008 after graduating with a BA in Interior Architecture. Not many people heard about us at the time, but now everyone is ordering on Just-Eat. Order food online? Yes, simple as that! And I believe it is better than all other ways – including the phone. This is why in June 2008 after having an interview, I cancelled all other interview appointments booked with interior architectural design firms and joined Just-Eat.ie to help start spread this great concept to everyone. It was not only the big change in ordering takeaways, but also the big change in my life.

My job is to introduce the Just-Eat system to restaurants and takeaways across the midlands, and to explain how to co-operate with us in a partnership that will increase their online orders. This new technology was just taking off in Ireland two years ago, and is a bit different to traditional methods for food ordering. Just-Eat makes things much easier and quicker, hence unavoidably in the beginning many misunderstandings occurred between restaurants and users. It was a learning curve for both the restaurants and consumers. With the great team we have at Just-Eat, we have been able to help everyone and it has been amazing how quick things have progressed.

Anything that could help our restaurant’s increase orders, Just-Eat will definitely do. I love being involved with a company that is constantly getting smarter. By working with the Just-Eat team, takeaway restaurants will see an increase in online business for sure. One thing I’d like to tell our partners is “you made the right decision!”. So did I.

Cool Takeaways For Summer Nights 0

Don't Waste Sunbathing Time By Cooking!

It’s now official! Last month was the driest June for 40 years here in Ireland, and BBQ’s have been sizzling up down the country since the Sun decided to hang around longer than usual. The good weather is a rarity on this Island of ours, and it’s no surprise millions of us want to take advantage of it before the rain inevitably returns.

So if you’re bored of the ‘barbie’ and feel staying in and cooking is a waste of good sun-bathing time, then let Just-Eat guide you through some delicious and light takeaway ideas to help you maximise the most of the sunshine hours. Here are our Top 5 Takeaway Tips for those warm Summer Nights:

5) Thin ‘n’ Crispy Pizza – Pizzas range in all shapes and sizes, but for the perfect Summer’s evening meal we suggest  you sample the delicious ‘Vegetariano’ Pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven from Bistro Bianconi in either Sligo, Galway or Dublin 6.
4) Chicken Tikka Wrap - Flour wraps are deliciously light. Topped with tasty Chicken Tikka and salad it can be a fantastic Summer evening dish. We recommend you sample the delicious Chicken Tikka Wrap from Kebab Palace in Drogheda
3) Sushi Selection - Sushi is a light cuisine. Uusually cooked in vinegared rice that is commonly topped with other ingredients, such as fish or other seafood or put into rolls. For Sushi we recommend Yami Thai & Sushi in Dublin 8
2) Tandoori Mixed Grill – This is a meat-lovers favourite. Lamb kebab, chicken breast, prawns and skewered chicken pieces marinated in Tandoori spices and then cooked in a tandoor. This is truly delicious. Serve with boiled rice or a side salad for a healthy and light meal. We recommend Spice of India in Limerick City
1) Warm Thai Duck Salad – This is truly a sublime takeaway dish. Minced breast of roasted duck with shallots, chilli, fresh mint, coriander & dry fried rice with crispy iceberg lettuce. This is as tasty as a salad can get. Try Kanum Thai in Dublin 4

We believe you can have healthy and light takeaways during Summer. So don’t waste time cooking, order food online from Just-Eat.ie! The good weather won’t last forever.

Nicole EllisHi. My name is Nicole and I’m the Office Administrator for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the company in December 2008 and have never looked back! My responsbilities include managing restaurant and customer queries, handling all of the online and offline administration, checking the online menus, preparing the Just-Eat boxes before they go into shops, assisting Customer Care and lots, lots more.

One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Just-Eat is because when I joined we were still a little internet company with big ideas, and in a short space of time we have become the biggest online takeaway service in Ireland and growing fast! Its really exciting to be part of business that is constantly evolving and getting bigger.

I think within the next few years, people will be wondering why they ever used the phone to order their takeaways. I believe ordering via Just-Eat will just become the norm.

That’s all I can think to say right now, thanks for reading!

Hand-Burgers Have Landed! 0

Nicole models our new postersThe 2010 World Cup Finals are almost upon us with only a few days left to go. It only seems like yesterday when Thierry Henry gave a helping hand to France’s qualification. The pain still runs very deep for many us. This frustration led to us building the website ‘AnyoneButFrance.ie’, and the subsequent Facebook fan page now has almost 3,000 members signed up. The inetrest and support has been phenomenal.

As well as some tounge-in-cheek fun, we have also teamed up with a number of restaurants nationally to promote the ‘Hand-Burger’. This burger is a bacon and cheese burger made with 100% Irish ingredients and will NOT contain onions, mayonaise or garlic. CLICK HERE for the latest list of participating restaurants.

Get on board and support this great campaign, and eat Irish during this World Cup!

Hello. My name is James Galvin and I am the Managing Director of Just-Eat Ireland. So who am I and what do I do? The MD in most organisations would usually be sat in the corner in a comfy chair, by the window, looking very important. I do that basically.
Just-Eat is not an organisation that likes too much corporate structure. Of course every business needs structure, but what we try to make is a busines that is as democratic as possible. Everyone’s opinion is valid. I am the one who ultimately makes the final decisions, but I encourage all members of my team to be vocal in their ideas, opinions and suggestions. I believe this approach at its core is what makes working life enjoyable, and ultimately you have to enjoy what you do, otherwise what is the point?
My background involves over 10 years of internet consumer facing marketing. Sounds dead fancy but its not really. 8 years in London building my knowledge base in things such as search marketing (Google basically), online media, affiliate marketing and much more. The last 2 years or so I have been in Ireland, throwing my tuppence worth into the digital industry here. I am passionate about the consumer experience of our product, and whilst I know we don’t always get it 100% right, our mandate is to aim for it. Also what is really important is when things go wrong, is to fix them fast. We live and die by the strength of our product and consumer faith in us will be paramount to our success. Quite simply, we must always listen to our customers, engage with them positively and strive to improve our business across the board.
That concludes the party political broadcast of the guy who has the nicest seat in the office. Thanks for reading.

Emer McCormack Just-Eat.ie Online Marketing Manager talks about marketing on the interweb.

Hello I am Emer McCormack and I joined Just-Eat.ie in January 2010 and I love Just-Eat.ie purely because I am a online geek but mainly because it is a forward thinking, progressive company. Just-Eat is only two years in Ireland and its already Ireland’s No.1 Food Ordering Website! I think that is very impressive.

My role as Online Marketing Manager can range from designing websites, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing, PPC, Managing Social Media Channels and Reputation Management, Affiliate Marketing etc and that is just online. I also apply my expertise in other areas in offline marketing such as radio advertising, print media and PR etc.

Online marketing means you have to have your finger on the pulse of all online activity at all times especially if your ‘brand’ is being talked about. This includes monitoring Google alerts, responding to tweets and Facebook messages.  It  doesn’t matter what day of the week communication comes in or at what time of day or night, you have to manage it effectively. That’s why everywhere I go I have my Blackberry and iPhone with me and my laptop is never far away.

The reason why I decided to write this entry was mainly because I often get asked “what is it that a Online Marketing Manager does?”  I hope I have answered it now.  The truth is I don’t work alone, we work as a team in Just-Eat.ie and this is fundamental to its overall success to date.

So, that’s me. I love to meet new people so please don’t be shy and say hello.

Emer

Cod ‘n’ Chips With Dara O’Briain? 0

Posted on April 22, 2010 by James Galvin

Just-Eat.ie recently polled it’s users to find out which Irish comedian they would love to share a takeaway with, and 25% of those surveyed named Bray man Dara O’Briain as their ideal takeaway guest. Interestingly, from the 1,046 people polled, the most popular dish to have with Dara was cod and chips netting 16% of the vote.
“It would appear that O’Briain is massively popular with our users as their ideal choice to share a takeaway with” said James Galvin, Managing Director of Just-Eat.ie. “We were surprised to see that our users felt cod and chips was the most appropriate dish to share – we don’t even know if he likes cod!”
The results also showed that the least popular choice to share a takeaway with was left-field funny man David O’Doherty who only polled 2%. The least favourite dish to share with the Dubliner was none other than the humble spice burger, which scraped only 2% of the vote.
