Ordering Methods 1

Posted on October 07, 2011 by admin

We all know the drill you get a menu through the letterbox. There’s about twenty of them, we gently sift through them and ultimately settle on trying out all the Chinese takeaways that deliver in the hope that we won’t be poisoned. When we hit one where it’s quite nice we often become creatures of habit with one number wired into the phone for our Saturday night feasting.
But lets be frank a simple change in personell or just a mistranslation by someone who has English as a second language can turn your Peking duck into a General Tsongs Chicken. A recent experience with a wrong order from my local Chinese take-away in Dublin had this exact problem. It could easily have been your local take-away in cork or the galway delivery of a pizzeria, the problems can be the same. So what to do about it?
I decided to check out ways of getting my order in without it being misinterpreted at all.

  • Going into the take-away and having them read the order back to me.

This worked quite well as I could correct things on the spot but lets be honest it does take some of the convenience out of take out food.

Verdict – Reliable but self defeating.

  • Carrier Pigeon

I tried this but none of the carrier pigeons ever came back and I never received my take-away. I’m presuming foul play or that the owner of a local sit-down restaurant has intercepted them with an air-gun. Also pigeons make a mess in your living room and may get you into trouble with your landlord.

Verdict – Unreliable and slightly messy.

  • An Post

This method didn’t work although I think that may be because the take-away may have thought it was a wind-up. Problems here are registered post is expensive and also mailing the restaurant takes a little of the spontaneity out of the take away meal.

Verdict – Reliable but untimely and expensive

  • Online Restaurants

Seemed like a good idea and not bad if an individual restaurant has a system and if everyone wants the same kind of food.

Verdict – Reliable but limited

  • Just-Eat.ie

This seems really the answer to all my prayers. I type in the order myself, I pay the money they deliver. No delays, no mistakes and no pigeon droppings or feathers.

Verdict – Feed me
So there you have it folks Just-eat.ie it’s better than the post or carrier pigeons for getting you what you want when you want it.

Nicole EllisHi. My name is Nicole and I’m the Office Administrator for Just-Eat.ie. I joined the company in December 2008 and have never looked back! My responsbilities include managing restaurant and customer queries, handling all of the online and offline administration, checking the online menus, preparing the Just-Eat boxes before they go into shops, assisting Customer Care and lots, lots more.

One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Just-Eat is because when I joined we were still a little internet company with big ideas, and in a short space of time we have become the biggest online takeaway service in Ireland and growing fast! Its really exciting to be part of business that is constantly evolving and getting bigger.

I think within the next few years, people will be wondering why they ever used the phone to order their takeaways. I believe ordering via Just-Eat will just become the norm.

That’s all I can think to say right now, thanks for reading!

Emer McCormack Just-Eat.ie Online Marketing Manager talks about marketing on the interweb.

Hello I am Emer McCormack and I joined Just-Eat.ie in January 2010 and I love Just-Eat.ie purely because I am a online geek but mainly because it is a forward thinking, progressive company. Just-Eat is only two years in Ireland and its already Ireland’s No.1 Food Ordering Website! I think that is very impressive.

My role as Online Marketing Manager can range from designing websites, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing, PPC, Managing Social Media Channels and Reputation Management, Affiliate Marketing etc and that is just online. I also apply my expertise in other areas in offline marketing such as radio advertising, print media and PR etc.

Online marketing means you have to have your finger on the pulse of all online activity at all times especially if your ‘brand’ is being talked about. This includes monitoring Google alerts, responding to tweets and Facebook messages.  It  doesn’t matter what day of the week communication comes in or at what time of day or night, you have to manage it effectively. That’s why everywhere I go I have my Blackberry and iPhone with me and my laptop is never far away.

The reason why I decided to write this entry was mainly because I often get asked “what is it that a Online Marketing Manager does?”  I hope I have answered it now.  The truth is I don’t work alone, we work as a team in Just-Eat.ie and this is fundamental to its overall success to date.

So, that’s me. I love to meet new people so please don’t be shy and say hello.

Emer

Is social media an important element for businesses? 0

Posted on February 05, 2010 by EmerMcC

All so called ‘experts’ in social media will tell you that you need to jump on bandwagon and start writing blogs, create a Facebook fan page, and set yourself up a twitter account for your business. I don’t rate these so called ‘experts’ at all, the fact of the matter is that there is no such thing as a ‘social media expert’. Businesses overall main objective is to make money, cover overheads and make a profit, so how can social media actually help you make more money? The answer is it can’t and it won’t!

By all means jump on the social media bandwagon but don’t count on it as a revenue stream as you will be bitterly disappointed to discover that it will not yield revenue- which of course is your overall objective in business, isn’t it?  It is important not to spend too much time dreaming up strategies that simply are a waste of time.

There is no argument to suggest that social media isn’t  a great communication tool because it is. Why? Well you can relay real-time information that traditionally would take a few hours to disseminate to the people that matter ‘your customers’. Just-Eat.ie uses Twitter and Facebook as a communication tool and not as a revenue stream and in actual fact from time to time we give away free €20 voucher to spend on Just-Eat.ie, this is the way this channel should be used.

Tips: How to use the website. 0

Posted on February 05, 2010 by admin

A lot of feedback we get is customers misunderstanding the basics of how online ordering works. Here are some great tips on how to navigate through your order. Totally hassle free.

Tip 1: Placing an order online has never been easier thanks to Just-Eat.ie, simply log on, type your area into the search box on the homepage a list of restaurants and takeaways in your area will appear. From here you can browse menus and select your favourite cuisine type.

Tip 2: When placing an order be sure to check which menu you are ordering from. i.e. if a takeaway is not open for delivery at a particular time, it will default to the collection menu.

Tip 3: If you are ordering from a pizzeria and ordering a meal deal, make sure you type your toppings into the comments box on the next page and include any sauces and drinks preferences you may have for your order.

Tip 4: On the topic of the comments box, this is on the next page of your order(where you select your payment option) here you can leave dietary requirements and preferences you have, i.e. no onions, extra curry sauce, extra directions for the driver.

Tip 5:  You can pay for your order upon delivery or for your convenience you can prepay online through MasterCard or Visa. We are very excited at the moment because very shortly, we are launching Laser. This is a great opportunity for customers who would not get the option in store in the takeaways.

Tip 6: Once your order has been processed and the restaurant have accepted, you will be sent a confirmation email. If for any reason the restaurants are unable to deliver your food, we will send you an email and explanation.

Tip 7: After you’ve had your meal, you can log back on to Just-Eat and leave a review for the restaurant. We encourage customers to share their experience, positive or negative. Just be careful not to swear! These reviews will help you before ordering to decide if the restaurant is right for you.

Tip 8: You can save your credit card details bu clicking the link after you log in.  This makes return visits easier for you! You can also edit your card details here.

Tip 9: If ever you cannot find a takeaway on our website that you would like to order from, simply go to the about us tab and click the link for suggest a takeaway. Our dedicated sales team will do everything in their power t0 get them online for you.

Tip 10: You will gain points for every order you place to redeem for merchandise in our pointshop. It’s currently under construction but, keep an eye out for some exciting new merchandise coming soon.

Tip 11: We like to reward our customers for their loyalty, we regularly run fun competitions. Join us on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates on what you can win.
