Ordering Methods 1

Posted on October 07, 2011 by admin

We all know the drill you get a menu through the letterbox. There’s about twenty of them, we gently sift through them and ultimately settle on trying out all the Chinese takeaways that deliver in the hope that we won’t be poisoned. When we hit one where it’s quite nice we often become creatures of habit with one number wired into the phone for our Saturday night feasting.
But lets be frank a simple change in personell or just a mistranslation by someone who has English as a second language can turn your Peking duck into a General Tsongs Chicken. A recent experience with a wrong order from my local Chinese take-away in Dublin had this exact problem. It could easily have been your local take-away in cork or the galway delivery of a pizzeria, the problems can be the same. So what to do about it?
I decided to check out ways of getting my order in without it being misinterpreted at all.

  • Going into the take-away and having them read the order back to me.

This worked quite well as I could correct things on the spot but lets be honest it does take some of the convenience out of take out food.

Verdict – Reliable but self defeating.

  • Carrier Pigeon

I tried this but none of the carrier pigeons ever came back and I never received my take-away. I’m presuming foul play or that the owner of a local sit-down restaurant has intercepted them with an air-gun. Also pigeons make a mess in your living room and may get you into trouble with your landlord.

Verdict – Unreliable and slightly messy.

  • An Post

This method didn’t work although I think that may be because the take-away may have thought it was a wind-up. Problems here are registered post is expensive and also mailing the restaurant takes a little of the spontaneity out of the take away meal.

Verdict – Reliable but untimely and expensive

  • Online Restaurants

Seemed like a good idea and not bad if an individual restaurant has a system and if everyone wants the same kind of food.

Verdict – Reliable but limited

  • Just-Eat.ie

This seems really the answer to all my prayers. I type in the order myself, I pay the money they deliver. No delays, no mistakes and no pigeon droppings or feathers.

Verdict – Feed me
So there you have it folks Just-eat.ie it’s better than the post or carrier pigeons for getting you what you want when you want it.

Microwave Food? Oven Pizza? Just feed me please! 0

Posted on June 24, 2011 by admin

How I fell in Love with Just-Eat.ie

It’s no secret – many people are already putting more hours into the working
day than ever before. As we start to increase productivity, we’re working
more. Business owners, managers and employees alike have to spend more time
marketing and promoting their businesses, and then creating and adding more
value than ever before. It’s a case of more time in front of the PC and less
time in front of the oven.

Basically, we’re just working more to be able to do the same work.

When you have to sink an extra half day into preparing a proposal or
drafting a sales pitch, do you really want to come home to microwave food?
You only have to eat one oven pizza to know that they are not in danger of
closing any pizzerias. Does working longer mean you have to sacrifice on
taste? When sacrifices are needed – why should the taste buds get the bullet

I don’t own a microwave personally. I used to. I gave it away. I just don’t
use it. I cook or I bake. I don’t reheat pizza. I enjoy cooking. In fact I
love it. But I can’t do it full time and I either want to cook or I want
someone to cook for me. That’s just me.

I work long hours and every weekend. I love to have people over and when I’m
caught for time, I don’t want to spend it in the kitchen. So if I have
people over mid-week or I just don’t have time to go shopping and then get
home and then cook because it’s 9:00pm already (I really have to get out of
here actually, so I might just keep this short) – I might just order from my
favourite (which is Meal Maza in Castletroy – so please support them J) and
then either collect it on the way home (which saves time waiting – when I
could be on twitter) or have it delivered. And enjoy the company of others.

Hello. My name is Beata Barylka and I am the Online Marketing Executive for JustEat.ie. I joined the company in January of this year and I truly love working for JustEat. I mainly enjoy my role as I am exposed to various different tasks and it is never boring at JustEat! It is great to be a part of this success story having great fun at the same time. However, don’t think we are only having a laugh *all* the time as we work hard but ‘the smart way’ BOOM BOOM.

My role as Online Marketing Exec ranges from: Web/Print Design, Web Programming, eCRM (i.e. Newsletters), Affiliate Marketing, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Social Media etc. Sometimes it even involves a bit of Photography, Film Making and Travel as well.

I’m online most of the time so don’t be shy and just drop me an email.

Cheers,
Beata

Calling on the people of Kildare! 30

Posted on February 21, 2011 by EmerMcC

We’re giving away five €10.00 vouchers for simply telling us:

What takeaway in Kildare you would love to see on JustEat.ie and why? (Remember the takeaway/restaurant must operate a delivery service)

Cut and pasting from directory sites is a BIG *no no* so please don’t do it or your answer will be null and void.

To enter simply post your suggestion below & don’t forget to tell us why you want to see your chosen takeaway on JustEat.ie. Here is an example of an answer: Joe’s Takeaway in Newbridge because I love their chips & by having them on JustEat saves me money on phoning them!

PS – We have something very special planned for Kildare.

Winners will be selected at random on 23rd Feb 2011 at 4pm. For further information please check out our Facebook page.

The winners are

Sarah Corcoran, Gareth Fletcher, Mandy Dowson, Shauna Riordan and Toni o’ Rourke! Congrats. Please email emer@just-eat.ie to claim your €10 voucher :) .
